About Hammersmith and Fulham’s figures

A Band D home in Hammersmith and Fulham is billed £1,519.51 on average for 2026/27, against £1,451.42 the year before: a rise of £68.09, or 4.7%. Just three of England's 296 council areas set a lower average for that band, and every council outside London charges more; the cheapest of those, at £1,952.62, is still well above the borough's figure.

Roughly a third of the bill, £510.51, is passed on to the Greater London Authority, a precept that pays, among other things, for London's fire brigade and the Metropolitan Police. The borough keeps £1,009.00. Because the GLA asks for an identical sum in every one of London's 32 boroughs, its weight depends on how much the borough itself charges. Here it reaches 33.6% of Band D, a larger proportion than in 29 of the other 31 boroughs; only Westminster and Wandsworth, with even lower borough charges, see a bigger GLA slice.

Property values on the list lean upwards. Band D is the most populated band, with 26,070 properties, but bands F, G and H together account for 26,960, about 28% of the 96,260 recorded, and 2,940 sit at the very top, in Band H, where the average 2026/27 bill comes to £3,039.02.

That upward lean shows in the council's arithmetic. Its tax base, worth 91,726 Band D equivalents, is almost as large as the number of properties, a ratio of 0.95 that only 32 English areas exceed. No parish precept applies anywhere in the borough, and the budget assumes 98% of what is billed will be collected.
