About Blackpool’s figures

Blackpool's row in Table 10 has no county share to pass on, so almost everything stays local. The council keeps £2,126.09 of the £2,513.22 Band D, 84.6%, and only two outside bodies take a cut: policing, at £292.40, and fire, at £94.73. Blackburn with Darwen is charged those identical amounts. There are no parishes.

Blackpool's housing is tilted steeply toward the cheapest bands. Nearly three homes in four sit in Band A or Band B: 32,130 and 21,310 respectively, out of 72,670. Band C brings in 11,520 more, which lifts the three lowest bands to 89.4%, a level surpassed by only seven English councils. Band D itself accounts for 4,880 homes, under 7%, and the summit of the scale is almost deserted: 250 homes in G, 30 in H.

Read against that stock, the Band D charge is a reference point that few Blackpool addresses actually receive. Blackpool's Band A homes are billed £1,675.48 this year, its Band B homes £1,954.73.

The Band D figure did climb, by £121.01 (5.06%), and it now stands £102.25 higher than England's simple average. The adult social care precept Blackpool added for 2026/27, £40.46, is exceeded in 22 councils.

Between Band A and Band H, the yearly gap in Blackpool is £3,350.96, though with Band H holding only 30 homes, that upper figure concerns a handful of addresses. Blackburn with Darwen, despite identical police and fire amounts, ends with a Band D £57.95 below Blackpool's.
